Speed up apt-get update with parallel

apt-get update speed up

To speed up the apt-get update command on Debian, Ubuntu or any other Debian based Linux distributions by allow the download of cache files in parallel, create a file on /etc/apt/apt.conf.d, eg. 99parallel:

With the following content:

Try to see the results by updating the apt cache:

Now apt will open one connection per server in parallel to speed up the download of the cache.

This way you speed up the cache update without install any additional package or script. There are ways to speed up the package download too by using some custom scripts like apt-fast shell script wrapper, I will write another post on future to talk about it.
